UNDEFEATED CHAMPIONS TO BATTLE FOR DESERT UPRISING

JULY 21, 2013 (PHOENIX, ARIZONA) – The heat is on for Killing Spree to live up to their namesake and champion a win at the 2013 Battle for Desert Uprising. The band is no stranger to waging war to open for the Valley’s biggest rock music festivals, having won the 2012 Battle for Desert Uprising and 2013 Battle for Mayhem Festival. Yet again, all eyes are on Killing Spree, veterans of the local music scene, as they prepare to extend the winning streak and seal a performance slot on the festival’s sophomore event. Having just released the highly anticipated EP “Volume 3” on Devil’s Crown Records, the band is feeling optimistic and ready for the competition, which is being held at Pub Rock Live on July 27, 2013 at 8005 E Roosevelt Street, Scottsdale, Arizona 85257. The battle also marks the second show back on the throne for drummer Dustin Vaughan, an inaugural member of Killing Spree, who is joining the line-up again after a 4-year hiatus.

Killing Spree, along with three other local bands, will be judged on at-the-door ticket sales and other factors such as performance, professionalism, songwriting, and crowd interaction. If they win, they will perform live at 98 KUPD’s Desert Uprising presented by Rockstar Energy Drink, September 13 or 14, 2013 at the Ak-Chin Pavilion in Phoenix, Arizona. “We had the time of our lives playing Uprising last year. It’d be an honor to be invited to play again at Desert Uprising with another great line-up that includes some of our biggest musical inspirations,” says Killing Spree guitarist, Marc Price.

About the Band: Killing Spree is a heavy rock/metal band hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, featuring Jeffrey Robens (Vocals/Programming), Marc Price (Guitar), David Gilles (Guitar), Jason Laidlaw (Bass, Vocals), and Dustin Vaughan (Drums). With music often described as an episode of Dexter personified, Killing Spree isn’t afraid to push the limits of gore and suspense with a sense of bittersweet finality. They artfully meld heavy guitars, growling vocals, and driving bass, operating under a guise of catchy choruses with anthemic melodies. “Volume 3” – along with their previous releases – is available for purchase on iTunes & Amazon. The cover EP, “Under the Covers,” is only available at their live appearances, including the upcoming opening performance for Bam Margera as F***face Unstoppable at the Rocky Point Cantina on Friday, September 13, 2013 in Tempe, Arizona.
