Recent discoveries of major oil and gas substances in Southern Africa could improve the region's prospects dramatically by: reducing imports, increasing economic growth, and lowering CO2 levels in power generation. The USGS estimates that the the West African Coast holds 3.2 billion barrels of oil, 23.63 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, and 721 million barrels of natural gas liquids.

The two unique conferences are hosted alongside the only Oil & Gas Awards ceremony to be held in Africa.

The Awards are judged by a prestigious panel of senior level figures in Africa's Oil & Gas industry. This includes: Energy Ministers, NOCs (National Oil Corporations) and IOCs (International Oil companies).
