Over 19 billion cubic meters of gas should be injected in Ukrainian UGS facilities before autumn-winter period for transit commitments to be fulfilled

July 2, 2013, 15:50

The Gazprom headquarters hosted today a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Company's Management Committee and Yury Boiko, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine.

The parties discussed natural gas injection into underground gas storage (UGS) facilities by Naftogaz Ukrainy. It was noted that Ukrainian UGS facilities should store over 19 billion cubic meters of gas by the beginning of the autumn-winter period for the Ukrainian company to fulfill its commitments on uninterrupted transit of Russian gas to Europe.

The meeting also highlighted that the USD 1 billion advanced payment made by Gazprom for gas transit could be used for filling UGS facilities with natural gas. The decision to grant the payment had been taken on June 26, 2013.
