Second round of EU-Morocco DCFTA talks

Morocco Brussels, 1 July 2013

The second round of negotiations for an EU-Morocco Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) took place the week of 24 June in Brussels. At this second round, discussions advanced well on all issues and it was agreed to integrate the bilateral negotiations on trade in services which have been on-going since 2008 into the broader DCFTA negotiations.

The DCFTA will thus extend significantly beyond the scope of the existing EU-Morocco Association Agreement to include trade in services and investment, government procurement, competition, intellectual property rights and the gradual integration of the Moroccan economy into the EU single market, for example in areas like industrial standards and technical regulations or sanitary and phytosanitary measures.
