A Country Loses Hope: Leadership, Lies and the Loss of Liberty
DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA, June 10, 2013 /EINPresswire.com/ -- June 10, 2013 Daytona Beach, Florida -- If we have learned nothing else from the rise of President Obama to his fall from grace, it is that leadership is the key component in our idea of who we are as Americans. We value honesty, integrity and the belief that our President is looking out for our best interests. When it becomes clear – as it has over the last weeks – that is not the case, it shakes us to our core.
Deb Cheslow, former Air Force instructor pilot, leadership expert, and author of the book Remarkable Courage explains how easy it is for a leader to completely destroy their own credibility in such a short time, “We choose to allow people to lead us and we do this by placing our trust in them. Often leaders underestimate the value of that trust and their arrogance can lead to grave errors in judgment like we are seeing with the Obama administration. The President fully expects that his platitudes will smooth things over as they have in the past and can’t seem to understand why that’s not working anymore. The answer is trust. Obama assumes Americans trust him, and has no clue that trust has been destroyed and must be earned back; which doesn’t happen with a flash of his GQ smile and bob and weave avoidance statements that make a person feel scolded for daring to ask how this could possibly happen on his watch.”
Arrogance and assumption on the part of any person in a leadership position will not only eventually cause a fall, but will often lead to a catastrophic failure of those around him. Says Cheslow, “Leaders create the culture within their organization and even though that person may not have directly made a poor decision, they are still responsible for creating the environment. President Obama has had five years to create this outcome.”
Courage in leadership means taking personal responsibility, not encouraging secrecy and underhanded tactics, and that responsibility must start at the top. Cheslow adds, “President Obama must drop his arrogance and complete disregard for the American people’s privacy. By belittling the concerns of the voting public he is burying his credibility one shovel full at a time.”
Either the President has been one of the most distracted and inept leaders of all time and had no idea what was going on in his own administration or, as many Americans suspect, he has known full well and not only condoned the actions but was absolutely complicit. But whether he is simply inept as a leader or a criminal, the American public will not tolerate either one in their President.
