The Green Button initiative, which is the common-sense idea that electricity customers should be able to securely download their own energy usage information from their utility websites, is continuing to gain traction across the country. In the May 1 issue of PowerGrid International, OE’s smart grid standards and interoperability coordinator Chris Irwin discusses the growth of Green Button. This initiative to enable energy innovation is part of a comprehensive grid modernization strategy to move the nation to a cleaner, more secure energy future.
