EPA Releases Updated Green Power Partner Lists
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Green Power Partnership has released its updated list of the National Top 50 Partners. This list is comprised of the organizations making the largest green power purchases in the United States. Collectively, the top 50 organizations account for more than 17 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of green power purchased annually. This list welcomed four new members, including Apple (10th), Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Company (31st), the State of Wisconsin (32nd), and Appleton Coated LLC (47th). Intel Corporation continues to hold top spot, while Microsoft Corporation took the second position from Kohl's Department Stores. Additionally, U.S. Department of Energy (6th) and Starbucks (8th) moved into the Top Ten.
This release is accompanied by the new EPA Long-term Contracts list featuring organizations that have committed to purchasing green power for five years or more. The top partners were University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University and Amway. Among the 47 members of the list are fifteen higher education institutions, with seven standing in the Top Ten.
