PotashCorp Awarded 2012 John T. Ryan National Safety Trophy
Sussex, New Brunswick – PotashCorp New Brunswick Division has been awarded the 2012 John T. Ryan National Safety Trophy for Select Mines. The Award was presented to representatives of the New Brunswick Division at the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) 115th Convention Awards Dinner and Gala in Toronto on May 6th.
The John T. Ryan award is the most prestigious safety award in the Canadian mining industry and it is the fourth time that New Brunswick has been honoured with the recognition. The facility also won in 2003, 2005 and 2008.
“Winning this prestigious award is an accomplishment in which all employees should take tremendous pride. It takes real teamwork and a focus on workplace safety by site leaders, employees and the occupational health and safety committee to ensure everyone arrives home safely,” said Stewart Brown, General Manager of PotashCorp New Brunswick. "A behaviour based observation process called S.C.O.R.E (Sussex Concentrates On Reducing Exposures) -implemented in 2001- is also an integral part of New Brunswick's safety system.” “Safety is not just a buzzword at our facility; it is a core value of the company and a shared commitment of all of our employees. “ Brown said.
The John T. Ryan award has been given annually since 1941.

With global population rising and diets improving in developing countries, crop nutrients such as potash, phosphates and nitrogen offer a responsible and practical solution to help produce the food we need, from the land we have.
The New Brunswick facility has been in operation since 1983 and is one of our six potash mines in Canada. We are a proud member of the Sussex region, employing more than 480 people and contributing locally through purchasing and community investments.
