Gridley, CA and Bay Area Transit System Switch to Solar
The City of Gridley, CA and the Bay Area Transit System (BART) are now receiving power from a recently completed Blue Oak Energy solar array. The solar panels in the 4.2 MW array are mounted on solar trackers which follow the daily movement of the sun in order to maximize the panels' output. The electricity will be directed to the two customers through separate energy meters monitored by the California Independent System Operator. The array was developed by LightBeam Energy, and marks over 400 MW of solar projects engineered by Blue Oak Energy. Both the City of Gridley and BART are members of the Northern California Power Agency, which is a non-profit working to provide communities with an affordable, reliable, and clean future energy supply.
