CHICAGO – The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) seeks proposals from current personal AASL members for a new series of monthly hot topic webinars. The webinars are designed to bring members tips and tricks from their peers in a fast format. Each will feature four presenters sharing 5- to 7-minute presentations. Proposals are currently being accepted for the introductory webinar taking place at 8 p.m. Central on Thursday, May 9. The webinar will focus on beautifying the school library on a small budget. More information is available at www.ala.org/aasl/aaslrfp.

Interested presenters are asked to complete a proposal submission form by Friday, April 26. All presentation skill levels are encouraged to submit. Proposals will be reviewed for relevance to the current monthly topic, the outlined ability to stay within the 5-to 7-minute time limit and the uniqueness of the concept. Proposals indicating a clear takeaway or benefit for the audience are preferred. All proposals will be read and scored by blind review and four presenters, and one alternate presenter will be selected.

Future dates and topics for AASL Flash Webinars include inspiring reluctant readers (June 6), collaborating with classroom teachers (July 11) and your favorite Common Core resource (Aug. 1). Webinars will be archived and added to AASL’s professional development repository, eCOLLAB.
