PotashCorp Donation to Support Saskatchewan Families

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (PotashCorp) today announced an $800,000 contribution to Ronald McDonald House Saskatchewan and its “For Every Family” capital campaign. Bill Doyle, President and CEO of PotashCorp, presented the donation which will be used for construction of two kitchen facilities and help to complete the renovation and expansion to the House.

“For over 25 years, this House has helped families from every corner of Saskatchewan” said Doyle. “In the spirit of neighbour helping neighhour, PotashCorp is pleased to support this project and families who need a safe and affordable place to stay while tending to the medical needs of their youngest family members.”

According to Tammy Forrester, Executive Director of Ronald McDonald House Saskatchewan, the House has been operating at close to 100 percent occupancy. In 2010, nearly 300 families – or 30 percent of the 914 families who came to the House seeking help – were required to find accommodation elsewhere due to a lack of available space. The renovation and expansion is expected to help address this need by adding 18 additional guest rooms, new and upgraded laundry facilities, a computer room, maternal baby care rooms, play areas for siblings and expanded kitchen facilities.

“We are so thrilled to have PotashCorp supporting our expansion campaign with their contribution,” said Forrester. “As we all know, the kitchen is the heart of the home and we are so pleased that PotashCorp will be a part of that space for our families.”

Construction on the 30,000 square foot addition is now underway and will be open to its first visitors in the Fall of 2014.

As the world’s largest crop nutrient company, PotashCorp plays an integral role in global food production. The company produces the three essential nutrients required to help farmers grow healthier, more abundant crops. With global population rising and diets improving in developing countries, crop nutrients such as potash, phosphates and nitrogen offer a responsible and practical solution to help produce the food we need, from the land we have.
