PotashCorp Donation Match Helps Save Babies' Lives

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (PotashCorp) today matched $150,000 in donations to Regina’s Z99 Radiothon to purchase new equipment that will improve the treatment of babies at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the Rawlco Centre for Mother Baby Care at the Regina General Hospital. The total of the matching gift challenge was announced live on air during the final hours of the radiothon.

“Babies are precious, and when they are sick they need to receive the best and most immediate care,” said Denita Stann, VP of Investor and Public Relations for PotashCorp. “PotashCorp is committed to improving the quality of life in the communities in which we operate, which is why we support the radiothon and the NICU – so children can get the care they need.”

This is the second year that PotashCorp has matched funds during the radiothon.  Last year, PotashCorp matched $100,000 in donations, which went towards the purchase of a MRI Compatible Monitor and a Neonatal Ventilator Package for newborns, as well as helping to increase bed capacity in the unit.

“It’s absolutely vital that these newborns and babies who are in medical distress are given the opportunity to grow up healthy and strong,” explained Stann. “The funds that Z99 raises every year give families hope and have saved countless lives. We’re proud to have been able to provide support and want to thank all the great people who took us up on our matching donation offer and pledged their assistance.”

As the world’s largest crop nutrient company, PotashCorp plays an integral role in global food production. The company produces the three essential nutrients required to help farmers grow healthier, more abundant crops. With global population rising and diets improving in developing countries, crop nutrients such as potash, phosphates and nitrogen offer a responsible and practical solution to help produce the food we need, from the land we have.
