Go digital during storytime with ideas from new PLA webinar

CHICAGO – Storytime isn’t just for books anymore. Learn how to navigate the crowded world of digital media for children’s programming during the hourlong webinar, “Early Literacy Programming in the Digital Age: Apps and E-Books in Storytime,” presented by the Public Library Association (PLA) at 1 p.m. CST, April 17.

Instructor Cen Campbell, children’s librarian at the Santa Clara County (Calif.) Library District and the Mountain View (Calif.) Public Library, will explore mobile apps and e-books and share practical techniques for integrating these tools into traditional early literacy programming. Participants will leave empowered to offer high-quality, book-based and educational media recommendations, model healthy media behavior and effectively communicate with parents on the positive and negative implications of media consumption on very young children.

Registration for “Early Literacy Programming in the Digital Age: Apps and E-Books in Storytime” costs $28 (PLA Members), $31.50 (ALA Members) and $35 (Nonmembers). Groups of any size can register for individual webinars for $129.
