Texaco MD Speaks Out at UKOOA Energy Breakfast

John McDonald, Managing Director of Texaco Limited and a member of the Governments former Oil and Gas Industry Task Force, will be guest speaker at UKOOAs next Energy Breakfast meeting in Aberdeen on Tuesday, 1 February.

His address Facing North Sea challenges in a time of change: a Texaco perspective will focus on how a company such as Texaco views opportunities in the North Sea within the global context, and considers how continuous change can be made profitable.

John McDonalds insight into the evolution of the UK oil and gas industry in the face of increased overseas competition for investment will be well informed. A Canadian by birth, John McDonald joined Texaco in 1975 and has 25 years experience in all areas of the upstream oil and gas business. Prior to moving to the UK, he headed Texacos exploration and production shelf and deep-water business offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. He was appointed Vice President of International Production with responsibility for Europe in January 1998 and, a year later, he moved to Aberdeen to lead the companys North Sea business. The company itself has a long history in the North Sea in 1964, Texaco was involved in the first well to be drilled in the region. It also has exploration and production interests stretching from the Americas, West Africa and the Middle East to the Pacific Rim.

The breakfast event, to be chaired by Dr John Wils, UKOOAs Director of Operational and Technical Affairs, will once again be held at the Marcliffe at Pitfodels Hotel and is sponsored by The Royal Bank of Scotland. It will be the fifth in a series of breakfast meetings launched last year to provide a regular forum for businesses in the North East of Scotland to exchange views on issues facing the offshore UK oil and gas industry.
