UKOOA Announces Executive Officers for 2002

UKOOA has announced the names of the twelve senior industry managers who will form its Executive Committee for 2002.

Michel Contie, managing director of TotalFinaElf Exploration UK, becomes the Association's new President, taking over from John McDonald of ChevronTexaco from 12 December 2001.

He will lead a team of eleven executive officers who will each take responsibility for reporting to UKOOA Council on key policy issues being addressed by the Association's policy groups and committees. Five will also represent the exploration and production companies on PILOT, the government industry initiative chaired by Energy Minister Brian Wilson. Nearly all will be members of the Industry Leadership Team (ILT) that supports PILOT.

Michel Contie said: "I would like to thank the committee for the opportunity to become the President of UKOOA in the coming year. It is the first time that TotalFinaElf Exploration UK has carried out this role, and I see it as an essential function, especially at a time when the Industry, the Government and stakeholders are addressing such important issues which will shape the future of the oil and gas industry. I will need the continuing support of the Council to do this, and I am sure that all the members would like to join with me in thanking John McDonald for his commitment and contribution to the Council during 2001."

The team has wide global spread, with European and North American as well as UK companies present, and gives a voice to the smaller independent members alongside the majors.
