UKOOA WELCOMES ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW FRONTIER LICENCE

6 February 2004

UKOOA welcomes the announcement of the new "Frontier" licence for oil and gas exploration and the innovative way the Government has approached the more difficult areas of the Atlantic Margin.

UKOOA is working with the Government to improve the business environment to encourage exploration, appraisal and development activity in UK waters. We are supportive of recent efforts to improve access to existing data and to being offered regular licensing opportunities. Together these are aimed at maintaining interest in exploring both new and recycled licence areas.

We look forward to seeing which blocks will be designated in the forthcoming 22nd offshore licensing round and the exact terms of the new licences.
