Oil & Gas UK Response to OILC/RMT Statement
There are important legal, safety and security reasons as to why an operator must retain the right to decide who has access to its offshore installations.
This right should not be exercised without justifiable reason. Oil & Gas UK issued a guideline to members in 2004 outlining the procedures and processes to follow in such circumstances.
There may well be incidences where a contract has been terminated abruptly but there is no evidence to suggest that this practice is widespread or that it is the level of issue that OILC/RMT contends.
However, in light of OILC/RMT's concern, Oil & Gas UK will discuss the issue again with its members at its next regular meeting with them in early November.
