Well services contractors join Oil & Gas UK
The members of the Well Services Contractors Association (WSCA) voted to suspend WSCA as the trade association for well services contractors in the UK as of 31 December 2009. From January 1st 2010 the trade association for well services will be the Well Services Contractors Forum, operating under the auspices of Oil & Gas UK.
Ronnie MacGregor, chairman of WSCA, commented: "We believe that this consolidation of well services contractors trade association activities is a sensible and efficient rationalisation of resources. Some well services contractors are members of both organisations, while others are members of either WSCA or Oil & Gas UK. Consolidation will allow more well services contractors to be represented by a single body; providing improved representation and a stronger voice within the industry.
"A single organisation also enhances our efficiency through the elimination of unnecessary duplication of effort and cost. We believe that the interests of our members and the advancement of value creation within the well services sector will continue to be actively addressed through Oil & Gas UK's Well Services Contractors Forum."
Malcolm Webb, chief executive of Oil & Gas UK, added: "The large majority of WSCA's members are already existing members of Oil & Gas UK. We will be honoured to welcome the remaining members of WSCA into our membership and to extend associate status within Oil & Gas UK to the smaller companies currently having that status at WSCA.
"This operational rationalisation is a timely example of the industry's attention to increasing efficiency through the elimination of unnecessary duplication of effort and cost. The advancement of good business practices within the wells services sector will continue to be keenly addressed and purposefully advanced through Oil & Gas UKs Well Service Contractors Forum.
