INFORMATION OFFICER VACANCY

Applications are invited for the post of Information Officer.

The successful applicant would report to the Head of Information.

This is an office-based role working a 37½ -hour week Monday to Friday but may involve occasional weekend work.

The role would be permanent subject to satisfactory completion of a six-month probationary period.

Essential requirements:

Good telephone manner

Polite and patient

Familiar with email, Word and databases

Good keyboard skills

Good time management

Efficient

Organised

Reliable

Ability to follow instructions without reminders

Ability to produce accurate written work including thorough proof-reading of own work

Good knowledge of vegan issues including products, animals, nutrition, the environment and food security

Ability to maintain enthusiasm for repetitive tasks while also being keen to learn new skills and constantly improve

Good team player

Must adhere to a vegan diet for the duration of employment with The Vegan Society.

Key job functions:

Work on a computer and deal with people on the telephone

Provide factual answers to phone, postal and email queries from the general public, caterers and other organisations

Work to written deadlines

Write a monthly report

Check and update information sheets and other literature ensuring that they are thoroughly referenced and factually accurate.

Maintain databases of contacts

Research and write new literature as and when required

Contacting companies to compile and update the Animal Free Shopper and other publications

Inputting data and maintaining the Animal Free Shopper database

Assist other staff as and when required by the line-manager

Work at festivals and exhibitions, which are sometimes at weekends and may require an overnight stay (lieu time off will apply)

Occasionally attend meetings away from the office and represent the Society in a professional manner.

 

The ideal applicant would also meet one or more of the following requirements:

Ability to conduct desk-top research from primary sources on a variety of topics

Willingness to drive a van to events as and when required

Basic knowledge of updating website content.

 

Salary scale £15,000 to £16,500 depending on experience.
