OWAP Webinar: Right Whales and Offshore Wind: A Case Study for Collaboration
Date: 3/1/2013
10:00 a.m. ET Join the Clean Energy States Alliance's (CESA's) Offshore Wind Accelerator Project (OWAP) and the National Wildlife Federation for a webinar that will examine the scientific underpinnings of North Atlantic right whale conservation; identify how this challenge might impact offshore wind development; and describe the details and impact of recently agreed-upon conservation measures that present a solution.
In a first-of-its-kind collaboration, a coalition of leading environmental organizations and three offshore wind developers has agreed to voluntary measures that will protect critically endangered North Atlantic right whales while helping to expedite responsible offshore wind development in the Mid-Atlantic. The companies and NGOs have drafted a set of protective measures that these developers will voluntarily implement over the next 4 years in areas designated by the Administration as Mid-Atlantic Wind Energy Areas (from New Jersey to Virginia).
Presenters will be architects of the agreement, including a leading industry voice and a marine mammal expert. This webinar is free, but registration is required.
