New offerings make breakfast brighter

Breakfast eaters are finding a little more variety on their store shelves this summer.   General Mills has some new breakfast options, and is also providing some old favorites in a wider variety of sizes.

New from Pillsbury are Egg Scrambles, a scrambled-eggs meal packed with meat, potatoes, Green Giant vegetables and cheese sauce.

Also new are Pillsbury Grands! Biscuit sandwiches, which feature scrambled eggs with flavorful meats, cheeses and vegetables.

And fans of organic breakfast cereals will see a new entry from Cascadian Farm, the fastest-growing natural cereal brand. 

Pillsbury Found in your grocer’s freezer, the Egg Scrambles and Grands! Biscuits are ready in minutes for breakfast lovers who seek protein. It also gives the family a “traditional” breakfast, minus the hassle.   These are also minus the guilt. Each flavor has 300 calories or less per serving.   Egg Scrambles come in Sausage Veggies, Sausage Cheese, and Bacon Cheese varieties.   The Grands! Biscuits entry comes in Sausage Cheese, Bacon Cheese and Ham Veggies.   Big G cereals Cocoa Puffs Brownie Crunch is already in stores. The brownie bits drive the taste, and each serving has just 9 grams of sugar yet 8 grams of whole grain.   New Fiber One 80 Calories cereal addresses the weight management category, which has grown more than 10 percent in the past four years. Cereal eaters will benefit from the savings provided from larger boxes, and there’s a whole grain benefit to both of these.   Each provides 10 grams of whole grain per serving (48 grams is the daily recommendation), and are good sources of calcium and vitamin D.   Trix will be in an 18.4-ounce size, and Cocoa Puffs in 20.9.

In Western markets, Multi-Grain Cheerios will appear in a 36-ounce size.
