Evolution Fresh Response to Wheatgrass Recall
On Friday, February 1, Sprouters Northwest of Kent, Washington, expanded its voluntary recall to include all varieties of wheatgrass products including wheatgrass supplied to Seattle area Evolution Fresh retail stores for use in handcrafted beverages, due to the potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. As a result, we have immediately removed all wheatgrass from our Seattle Evolution Fresh retail stores. Although Sprouters Northwest only supplies wheatgrass to Seattle area Evolution Fresh stores, out of an abundance of caution, we have also instructed our San Francisco Evolution Fresh store to immediately remove all wheatgrass. Wheatgrass will not be available again in stores for use in handcrafted beverages until we confirm it meets Starbucks high-quality standards.
Ready-to-Drink bottled Evolution Fresh juices containing wheatgrass, including Super Green, Sweet Greens and Lemon, Vital Greens are not affected.
