Lakeshore Sport & Fitness celebrates its New Groove with LSF4.0
/EINPresswire.com/ Chicago, Illinois - September, 2012 -- "LSF has rebooted, now it's your turn," says Peter Goldman, managing partner of the new Lakeshore Sport & Fitness. Goldman explains that Lakeshore has lived through three versions, some good, some bad, but now LSF is Chicago's #1 destination for sport, fitness and fun. Since the club changed ownership in 2010, LSF has invested millions of dollars in improving the club and hired world-class experts to create amazing programming and a culture of excellent service. So this September, LSF invites members and non-members alike to celebrate the upgraded version of the club: LSF4.0. On each of the last three Saturdays of September, LSF invites the public to the club to see the great facility and range of services and programs LSF offers. On 9/15, LSF has an Open House with fun programming and activities that showcase the best of LSF. On 9/22, LSF will provide activities for the whole family to enjoy. The celebrations conclude on 9/29 with a Pro Am tennis tournament featuring French Open champions Murphy and Luke Jensen and a blow-out cocktail party.

Founded in 1972, Lakeshore pioneered a new model for the fitness industry. In 1979, a massive snow storm caved in the club's roof; these early years were the first version of Lakeshore. During version 2.0, the club was rebuilt with a new pool on the 4th floor and more fitness space in general; the result was phenomenal membership growth and a club that was the center point of the Lincoln Park lifestyle. The death of Jeff Kaiser in 2000 ushered in Lakeshore 3.0 when the old owners failed to re-invest in or manage the club. Luckily, in December of 2010, a group of local Chicago families joined forces to save the club. Most of these new owners had been long term Lakeshore members and wanted to maintain the Lakeshore that had been such an important part of their lives.
The new owners have spent the last eighteen months and millions of dollars rebuilding the club into Chicago's #1 destination for sport, fitness and fun. Not only have the new owners reinvested in the physical plant, but also they have hired an amazing new staff bringing in experienced team members from Equinox, Midtown, Lifetime Fitness and more. Joan Grzesinksi, the general manager, says, "This is the dream team -we have literally the best people in the industry running all of our departments." The new team has created a focus on exceptional member service and amazing, unique programmatic offerings. With over 140,000 square feet indoors and over 40,000 square feet of outdoor activity and relaxation space, LSF has the space to offer its members opportunities for all sorts of sport, fitness and fun activities.
This September, LSF's team wants to share the club's new version, LSF4.0, with the rest of Chicago. On September 15th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., LSF will inspire by holding an Open House to showcase everything LSF has to offer. The club will offer group fitness, yoga and tennis extravaganzas - where participants can experience the breadth of LSF's programming and fantastic instructors in these areas with 30-minute sample classes. There will be a fast serve contest, a tennis target range, a three point contest, InBody Physical Assessments, video evaluations for lifting technique, samples of new training classes, free chair massages, physical therapy injury screening, and more.
LSF invites families to play from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on September 22nd. This family day will feature activities for the family to enjoy all that LSF can offer. Kids can explore a tennis court-sized obstacle course or enjoy the music of Mr. Singer and the Sharp Cookies. The Jesse White Tumbling Team will perform and the fire department will be bringing by one of their engines. There will be all sorts of kids classes offered, including tennis, basketball and other sports. T-Bone the Tiger will be on hand to entertain, and children will have the opportunity to decorate their own mini-stuffed tiger.
LSF will end this month long celebration on September 29th with a Pro Am Tennis tournament and clinic featuring the Jensen Brothers, former French Open Champions. Later, LSF will celebrate with a cocktail party featuring food, band, DJ, whiskey tasting, lounge and more.
