Anadarko Petroleum Improves Field Operating Efficiency With RFID Valve Tracking

/EINPresswire.com/ Anadarko Petroleum is tracking thousands of valves with RFID for valve servicing and inspection, to lengthen the valve life and streamline DOT, EPA, and OSHA compliance.

Xerafy Ltd, a global supplier of RFID metal tags, together with Protech Sales, USA Corp., and idsTag, has implemented an integrated RFID technology solution for valve maintenance and inspections for Anadarko Petroleum.

The Ontrase solution, delivered by Protech Sales, supports valve maintenance and inspection operations at Anadarko Petroleum's oil and natural gas production locations in Brighton, Colorado and Salt Creek, Wyoming. This solution will provide real-time, actionable valve history ensuring on-time maintenance and compliance verification that reduces valve costs and audit penalties, and avoids costly shutdowns and spills.

Protech Sales installs and provides integration for the Ontrase system, including software from idsTAG, and Xerafy's passive MicroX II RFID tags. The Ontrase system is an end-to-end valve management system including a full line of valves, their installation, servicing and greasing, as well as the recording and maintaining of all the data.

"We have been able to create a unique solution that can withstand the harsh oil field environment and deliver real-time data and visibility needed to improve field maintenance operations," said Bob Pacheco, President of Protech Sales. "Anadarko Petroleum has successfully proven the Ontrase RFID System streamlines inspection processes and optimizes performance by automating valve tracking."

"Xerafy's RFID tags are ATEX certified and have proven tough enough to survive the harsh oil and gas environment with steam and high temperatures, chemical exposure, sand blasting, and rough handling," said Dennis Khoo, CEO of Xerafy. "We are excited to work with Protech Sales, and idsTAG to bring the benefits of RFID technology to the oil and gas market."

Protech's Ontrase RFID solution has been operating at Anadarko for one year. For more information on how to use RFID technology to reduce risks in oil and gas industry in the areas of maintenance recording, inspection audits and asset tracking download whitepaper "RFID and Valve Maintenance."
