Scottsdale Dentist Earns 'Master' Designation

/EINPresswire.com/Kathi M. Mansell, a Scottsdale dentist, earned the designation "Master" of the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD). It is part of her ongoing commitment for improving the dental health of area residents, both patients and people touched through her volunteer work.

Scottsdale dentist Kathi M. Mansell has earned the designation "Master" of the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD). Dr. Mansell, a Scottsdale dentist, has been in private practice in Arizona for more than 20 years.

The Masters designation is a rigorous dental education program incorporating a structured set of requirements involving all dental disciplines. Academy Masters must complete more than 1,000 continuing credit hours and study 16 dentistry disciplines, such as periodontics, orthodontics and implants, before applying for a Master's designation. All applications are reviewed by the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) Council on Dental Education.

Prior to completing coursework for the Master designation, Dr. Mansell was a Fellow of the Academy. Fellows must be AGD members for three years, complete a minimum of 500 approved continuing dental education credits and pass a 400-question exam.

"I'm committed to improving the dental health of residents in my community," Dr. Mansell said. "Taking these courses allows me to stay current on new dental techniques so that I can provide quality care to the patients in my practice as well as those I see in my volunteer positions throughout the Phoenix area."

Dr. Mansell is a member of the American Dental Association and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. She has served on the board of directors for the Central Arizona Dental Society, the Arizona Dental Society and John C. Lincoln Clinic and has volunteered her professional talents at the Dental Clinic at St. Joseph's Hospital and the John C. Lincoln Clinic.

The Academy of General Dentistry is the world's second largest dental association with more than 35,000 general dentists in the United States and Canada. In addition to the Masters and Fellows designations, the AGD represents and lobbies for the needs of general dentists. The association has been in existence since 1952.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Dr. Mansell completed her dental degree at Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia and completed a one year residency in hospital dentistry in Rochester, New York. After moving to the Phoenix area, she worked briefly for a pedodontist and the Arizona Department of Dental Health before starting her private practice. The Scottsdale dentist has an office located at 7595 East McDonald Drive in Suite 110. For more information, visit her Scottsdale dentistry website or dental blog.
