Scotland games festival gets under way August 25-26

July 14, 2010 -- Now in its eighth year, Edinburgh Interactive 2010, part of The Edinburgh Festival, is now accepting registrations for the August 25 and 26 event.

EI 2010 also announced it has moved to a new location, Filmhouse, for the sessions and free-to-public Game Screenings. EI 2010 will feature an array of networking events, the return of the increasingly popular EI Games Screenings program, and a dedicated area in Festival Square where members of the public can experience future video game attractions.

There will also be a Creative Masterclass at MGEITF, chaired by Sean Dromgoole (GameVision). With an introduction that will include comparative audience data and an overview of the creative and commissioning process, four of UK gaming's biggest hitters will outline the missed potential and huge opportunities for a better relationship between the UK's two richest creative industries.

"Edinburgh holds a unique place in the heart of the games industry. It mixes games into a cultural melting pot that is the Edinburgh Festival and Fringe. Taking place at Filmhouse and Festival Square, Edinburgh Interactive is a great way for people to spend some time looking at new interactive projects from new young development talent, to be inspired by the Games Screenings, as well as seeing and experiencing new games," said Chris Deering, Chairman of Edinburgh Interactive.

To register, visit www.edinburghinteractive.co.uk. Standard registration costs £175 + VAT with Scottish-based developers and companies paying £125 + VAT. The fee for students is £75, including VAT.
