In honor of National Teacher Appreciation Week, Kaplan Higher Education Campuses sent out more than 2,000 apples to recognize the many hard-working instructors at its locations across the country.

"Our instructors are the lifeblood of our campuses. It is the work they do in our classrooms and labs that provide our students with the skills they'll need to thrive professionally," John Lock, president of KHEC, said. "They serve as role models, provide inspiration and share stories of their own professional experiences to guide our students toward future success."

National Teacher Appreciation Week is a time to recognize the important role teachers have in shaping the lives of their students. The apples were sent to acknowledge the dedication and efforts of the KHEC faculty, not just this week, but every week.

The majority of campuses received McIntosh apples from Honeycrisp.com. The apples were grown in "McIntosh Country" along Lake Champlain in northern New York. McIntosh apples were discovered in 1811 by John McIntosh, who discovered about 20 trees while clearing land in Ontario, Canada. All McIntosh apples are descendents of his orchard. A few campuses received Pink Lady or Fuji apples supplied by The FruitGuys.

The apple initiative was one of several recognition efforts being held at Kaplan's higher education institutions throughout the nation.
