Madison County intends to seek funding for an Emergency Operations Center through HUD’s CDBG-DR funding. The funding is intended to support disaster-impacted areas in recovering from Presidentially declared disasters, as well as supporting long-term recovery and resilience efforts.

Madison County is seeking public comment on a proposed project to rehabilitate and rebuild the Emergency Operations Center, previously damaged by hurricanes. The project is aimed at creating infrastructure within Madison County that would have the capacity to support staff and staff support in the event of a natural disaster. The County intends to request an estimated $8,000,000 for the project.

The project would include:

  • Permanent hurricane-resistant EOC built per FEMA P-361 standards
  • Facility equipment to support emergency occupancy
  • Mobile trailer to enable command when primary center is inaccessible
