Miami-Dade County has been ranked 5th in the 2025 Digital Counties Survey conducted by the Center for Digital Government (CDG) and Government Technology magazine, in partnership with the National Association of Counties (NACo). The County advanced four spots from its 2024 ranking, placing in the category for counties with populations of one million or more.

“This recognition, and the significant advancement in our national ranking, is a reflection of Mayor Daniella Levine Cava’s commitment to governing WISE: Working Innovatively, Strategically and Efficiently,” said Chief Administrative Officer and Interim Director of the Information Technology Department for Miami-Dade County, Dr. Carladenise Edwards. “It affirms our collective focus on maximizing the impact of every taxpayer dollar to strengthen government services, enhance affordability and build a more secure and resilient Miami-Dade.”

Now in its 23rd year, the Digital Counties Survey highlights counties that demonstrate the use of technology to improve public services, enhance cybersecurity, modernize operations and increase transparency and responsiveness in government. Participating counties are evaluated on how well their IT strategies align with broader government priorities and deliver measurable results.

Miami-Dade County’s Information Technology Department (ITD) works in close partnership with all County departments to implement technology-driven solutions that support operational efficiency, cost savings and improved services for its leadership, workforce and residents.

The Center for Digital Government is a national research and advisory institute focused on IT policy and best practices in state and local government. Through benchmarking, research, and recognition programs, CDG supports innovation and strategic leadership across the public sector.
