PotashCorp Supports Saskatoon's Healthy Growth With Community Kitchen

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (PotashCorp) today announced a commitment of $50,000 to CHEP Good Food Inc. to help create a Community Kitchen at Station 20 West.

“As the world’s leading producer of fertilizer, PotashCorp understands the critical role access to nutritious food plays in growing healthy communities,” said Denita Stann, Vice President, Investor and Public Relations. “PotashCorp is proud to support CHEP’s Community Kitchen, making it possible for families, neighbours and friends to cook nutritious food together and experience the positive effects healthy eating has on the community.”

“The Centre will serve as a food hub with good, healthy food rippling out all over the city – to schools, to community groups, to families and children,” said Ann Neufeld, Treasurer of CHEP Good Food Inc. “The kitchen will build on CHEP’s social enterprise approach to food - an approach that believes in the long-term benefits of a hand-up rather than a hand-out.”

PotashCorp presented the donation to CHEP Good Food Inc. at the seventh annual “Think Global Eat Local” fundraiser dinner held on Friday evening at the Hilton Garden Inn.

The gala event was organized by Health Everywhere, a multi-disciplinary group of university students and professionals based out of the University of Saskatchewan who promote awareness of global health issues and work to improve access to health care.

The evening featured auctions, entertainment and music with proceeds raised going towards CHEP’s community kitchen and CHEP’s nutrition and food security programs.

CHEP Good Food Inc. is a non-profit organization that sponsors nutrition and food security programs throughout Saskatoon.

Headquartered in Saskatoon, PotashCorp is the world’s largest fertilizer company by capacity, producing the three primary crop nutrients – potash, phosphate and nitrogen. With five potash operations in Saskatchewan, and one in New Brunswick, it is responsible for about 20 percent of global capacity. Its operations and business interests span seven countries, making PotashCorp an international enterprise and a key player in meeting the growing challenge of feeding the world.
