IBERDROLA has once again been awarded the Family-Friendly Company certificate with a B+ Pro-active Company rating, the highest it can achieve. The company has now been awarded this certificate for three consecutive years and has become the first Spanish firm to receive the highest rating for its unwavering commitment to employee work-life balance and equality.

This certification, granted by the Fundación+Familia organisation, is presented to those companies that make the greatest contribution to helping their employees achieve a work-life balance. A range of factors are evaluated, such as job stability, flexible working hours, support for integration and the family and equality of opportunities.

In the renewal process, the company stood out for its rigour in defining, applying and informing employees about its more than 70 work-life balance, family support and equality measures, which are contained in a policy approved by its board of directors.

These include the continuous work day from 07:15 to 15:30, with a 30-minute margin for time of arrival and departure, the awarding of 15 calendar days of paid leave before childbirth, a reduction in the working day to five hours until the child's first birthday with no impact on pay, and the right to reduced working hours for employees with legal guardianship of a child until the child's 12th birthday (exceeding the prevailing legal requirement by four years).

The B+ rating also reflects the commitment of the company's senior management to developing a responsible management model and enhancing the life quality of its employees. Furthermore, it underlines the steady improvement achieved since IBERDROLA became the first company in its sector to secure the Family-Friendly Company certification in 2006.

In this regard, it is worth highlighting milestones such as: the approval of the Equality Plan, which contains pioneering measures to protect victims of gender-based violence; the progress in female representation at board level, where currently 21% of directors are women; and the increase in the use of work-life balance measures by men, as evidenced by the 844 applications for paternity leave registered in the last year.
