IBERDROLA SIGNS UP TO THE ‘CSR-SME INITIATIVE’ TO PROMOTE GOOD PRACTICES AMONG ITS SUPPLIERS
- The initiative was developed by the Instituto de Credito Oficial and the Spanish Network of the United Nations Global Compact

IBERDROLA has joined the "CSR-SME Initiative" as a collaborating entity. The initiative was started by the Instituto de Credito Oficial (ICO) and the Spanish Network of the United Nations Global Compact. The aim of the project is to encourage the inclusion of corporate social responsibility in the management of small and medium enterprises.
Within the framework of the programme, the company will collaborate in helping SMEs exploit the competitive advantages offered by integrating sustainability into their business strategy and assist them to prepare sustainability reports in a free, simple and effective way.
IBERDROLA will thus back-up the face-to-face courses that the Spanish Network of the Global Compact will provide for participating companies in all the autonomous communities. It will also provide on-line training on the use of a specially designed management software programme so that SMEs can prepare their 2011 sustainability report without any cost.
Small and medium-sized companies that sign up to the initiative will also have a tailored advisory service throughout the whole process.
Through this project, IBERDROLA hopes to bring CSR closer to more than 1,000 national supply companies, who will then be able to work with their clients to comply with sustainability provisions. They will also be able to gain access to grants, auctions and state aid. In order to take advantage of the "CSR-SME Initiative," companies must be part of the Spanish Network of the Global Compact.
