Question: Please provide an update on the status of the Indian Government’s application to open a consulate in Seattle, Washington.

Answer: On August 20, 2010, the Department informed the Government of India that it could open a consulate in either Atlanta or Seattle. On February 25, 2011, the Government of India informed the Department that it had chosen Atlanta as the site of its new consulate. The opening of consulates is governed by principles of reciprocity. We refer you to the Government of India for further information on its selection of Atlanta as the site of its new consulate.
