Affordable Housing & Homelessness News: October 25, 2024
The Kansas Housing Resource Corporation has just announced their 2024 Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) awards. There are two projects happening in Lawrence that the City has been actively supporting since their inception. The City has worked to provide tax credits to help complete the financing these projects need in order to be viable. That means these projects can now start the development planning process and will likely start ground work in the next six months. Here are the two projects we can look forward to seeing in Lawrence:
-
Bison Affordable Development, 3100 Michigan
- 250 units
- The city awarded Industrial Revenue Bonds this month to support this project, which are an economic development incentive that provide tax exemption for construction materials.
-
Floret Hill, Bob Billings Pkwy
- 121 units
- The City has supported this development with both a land donation & Affordable Housing Trust Fund awards.
- This project is a great example of a public private partnership, involving the City, Tenants to Homeowners, and Wheatland Investments.
