Dept. of Ag to Award St. Louis Public Library $2,500 Local Foods Grant
The St. Louis Public Library and Walnut Park Community Garden Club will receive a boost on Wednesday, as Missouri Director of Agriculture Dr. Jon Hagler joins the groups in St. Louis to celebrate their community gardening and education efforts. Dr. Hagler will also present a $2,500 matching grant from the Missouri Department of Agriculture's Local Foods Grant Program to assist them in expanding their efforts within St. Louis' 27th ward.
Through the Local Foods Grant Program, the Missouri Department of Agriculture supports community organizations and projects working to improve underserved populations' access to fresh, locally-grown produce.
Representatives from the Missouri Department of Agriculture and the AgriMissouri program will also be joined by representatives of the St. Louis Public Library and the Walnut Park Community Garden Club.
