Arizona Wind for Schools Team Installs Turbine at Northern Arizona University
Date: 12/20/2011
The Arizona Wind for Schools team announced the installation of a Skystream wind turbine at Northern Arizona University (NAU). Southwest Windpower donated part of the equipment, GLHN Design donated design work, and Southwest Windpower staff provided expertise during the final day of installation. NAU's student Green Fund, which provides funding for student-initiated sustainability projects on the campus, covered the remainder of the project costs. Students, staff, and faculty watched the installation, which will provide power to NAU's Applied Research and Development building. The building houses the Wind for Schools project and the university's sustainability program. The turbine data will be used in NAU classes and by K-12 schools across the state. This is the Arizona Wind for Schools project's fourth installation.
