Seven Enforcement Orders Served in November

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) today reported that six Closure Orders and one Prohibition Order were served on food businesses during the month of November for breaches in food safety legislation, pursuant to the FSAI Act, 1998 and the EC (Official Control of Foodstuffs) Regulations, 2010.  The Enforcement Orders were issued by environmental health officers (EHOs) in the HSE West Region; the HSE Dublin North East Region; the HSE Dublin Mid Leinster Region and the HSE South Region. 

Closure Orders were served on:

  • Ivory Tower restaurant, Exchange Buildings, Princess Street, Cork
  • Gong Chinese Restaurant, 8 Lower Kilmacud Road, Stillorgan, County Dublin
  • Orient Aroma Chinese Restaurant, 37 Bridge Street, Westport, Mayo
  • The Royal Hotel, Boyle, Roscommon
  • Papa Sorrento, Barry Avenue, Finglas, Dublin 11
  • Halal Favourite Fried Chicken, 3a Clanbrassil Street Upper, Dublin 8

A Prohibition Order was served on:

  • God Favour Shop, Unit 121 Parnell Street, Dublin 1

According to Prof Alan Reilly, Chief Executive, FSAI, with the busy Christmas period underway, food businesses must be particularly vigilant to the hygiene and food standards they are adopting – no matter how busy a premises is, food safety standards must not be permitted to slip to levels that jeopardise consumer health.

“Food service outlets will be working to full capacity to cope with the demand of Christmas functions and we urge food businesses to continue to produce safe food and not to cut corners to facilitate extra demand. Food businesses should take full advantage of the information and support made available by the FSAI and its official agencies to ensure a basic and consistent food safety management plan is being followed. Particular attention should be paid to food storage and refrigeration facilities, as stock piling for the festive season can mean that a premises is holding a higher quantity of perishable foods than at any other time of the year.  

Details of the food businesses served with these Enforcement Orders are published on our website.  Closure Orders and Improvement Orders will remain listed on the website for a period of three months from the date of when a premises is adjudged to have corrected its food safety issue, with Prohibition Orders being listed for a period of one month.
