From Cheerios to Betty Crocker, General Mills brands have found success connecting with consumers through social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter and My BlogSpark.
Now, the company’s biggest brand, General Mills, has launched “A Taste of General Mills," a blog that takes readers on a behind-the-scenes tour of General Mills.
While about 30 percent of Fortune 500 companies have corporate blogs, General Mills is leading the way in the food industry.
The intended audience includes employees, media, customers, consumers, prospective employees, vendors and suppliers, and investors.
In his opening blog post welcoming readers, Tom Forsythe, vice president of Corporate Communications, says, “We will showcase the people who work here – because they are smart and interesting and fun. That’s why I work here. I like these people, and I think you will too.”
General Mills is also on Twitter, YouTube and Flickr, with plans to launch a Facebook page.
