AJC Mourns Passing of Jordan Baruch

October 31, 2011 – New York – AJC mourns the passing of Jordan Baruch, longtime member of AJC’s Board of Governors, and founder of AJC’s Transatlantic Institute in Brussels. The following obituary appeared in The Boston Globe, The New York Times and The Washington Post.

Jordan Baruch

The American Jewish Committee (AJC) is deeply saddened by the passing of our cherished friend and colleague, Jordan Baruch.  A longtime member of our National Board of Governors, he, in collaboration with his beloved wife, Rhoda, and the entire Baruch family, established AJC’s Transatlantic Institute in Brussels. Jordan and his family were visionaries who understood the vital need to help ensure enduring ties between the U.S. and Europe.  His steadfast and principled commitment to the Jewish people, to democratic values, and to human rights was evident in his lifetime of philanthropic work.  And his outstanding professional leadership in science and technological innovation advanced government, academia and industry.  We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Rhoda, his three children, their spouses, and nine grandchildren.
