Sloatsburg, NY — A rear-end collision involving a Trailways bus and a tractor-trailer left eight people with injuries Tuesday morning, October 18, 2011. The crash occurred on southbound Interstate 87 at 5:35 a.m. in Sloatsburg, reported LoHud.com.

According to officials, the Trailways bus was transporting 16 passengers from Kingston, N.Y., to the Port Authority bus terminal in New York City when it rear-ended the semi-truck on the New York Thruway, about two miles north of Exit 15A.

The impact of the crash crushed the driver’s cab, which caused emergency crews to extricate the injured from the bus.

The bus driver is reportedly in stable condition and was admitted to the hospital for further medical treatment.

The identities of the injured are being withheld at this time.

The uninjured passengers were transferred to another bus to take them to New York City.
