Norman Horrocks-Scarecrow Press Annual Conference Award

CHICAGO - Applications are being accepted for the new Norman Horrocks-Scarecrow Press Annual Conference Award, administered by the newly-formed ALA Retired Members Round Table (RMRT), with funds provided by Scarecrow Press. The $1,000 award is named in honor of the late ALA Honorary Member Dr. Norman Horrocks, who was an active ALA participant both during his career and in retirement. The deadline for applications is Dec. 1.

Eligible candidates must be a RMRT member, retired from full-time paid employment and have a record of active involvement in ALA prior to retirement.  Nominees must include a statement of no more than 250 words explaining how they would benefit from and contribute to participation in Annual Conference.

RMRT, created and approved by the Council of the American Library Association, is charged with developing programs of particular interest to retired persons from all types of libraries and all forms of library services, including formal opportunities for continued involvement and learning; a variety of leadership training and opportunities for mentoring; lifelong professional involvement and networking; and active engagement in ALA and the profession of librarianship.
