October 3, 2011 – Philadelphia – Rabbi Mark Robbins has been appointed Director of AJC's Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey (SNJ) Office. He succeeds Ilana Krop Wilensik, who left AJC after eight years of service.

"I am delighted that Rabbi Mark Robbins will lead AJC's Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey Region,” said James Rosenstein, AJC Philadelphia/SNJ Board Chair. “Mark’s appointment bodes well for the future of our regional office."

Robbins returns to AJC after 20 years as a congregational and campus rabbi. He previously served as assistant to the director of AJC’s Government and International Affairs Department.

"I am excited to once again work for AJC," said Robbins. "AJC is committed to supporting Jews and Jewish life in the Diaspora, and defending Israel at home and abroad. As a leader in the Jewish community of Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, I look forward to helping to further this extremely important mission.”

For the past two years Robbins and his family lived in Israel, where he founded a startup service recording and writing the life stories of English-speaking immigrants and Jews in the Diaspora. Before moving to Israel, he was the rabbi at Congregation Ohev Shalom in Wallingford, Pennsylvania. Robbins is a graduate of Harvard University and of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America Rabbinic program.
