IBERDROLA SELECTS THREE SPANISH COMPANIES AS THE WINNERS OF THE 2nd PERSEO AWARDS

IBERDROLA has announced on this website the the winning projects of the 2nd Perseo Awards for Technological Innovation, which are designed to promote research in the energy sector through support for state-of-the-art initiatives that may help address future challenges in this field.

On this occasion, all the award-winners have been Spanish, and the Company has established two categories: innovative biomass technologies, in which the winner was the Ingelia company from Valencia, and new energy efficiency products, in which the winner was the Basque company Wattio, with second prize going to Servitel, a group from Valencia.

After the selection of the winners by the Investment Committee of the Perseo Fund , IBERDROLA will look into the possibility of taking a stake in these companies, in which it could invest up to €4 million.

When assessing the proposals, IBERDROLA took into account the profile of the candidates and their experience, conducted a scientific assessment of the project from the point of view of innovation, and analysed its financial, environmental and social feasibility.

With these awards, the Company is seeking to promote new businesses and budding projects offering high technological and innovative value that involve a substantial advance in economic, environmental and social terms in relation to current solutions.

Initiatives awarded a prize by IBERDROLA

In the innovative biomass technologies category, the selected company, Ingelia, located in Valencia, carries out projects focused on energy generating systems using readily available renewable resources, particularly biomass. The company has developed the world’s first continuously operating industrial plant with hydrothermal carbonisation technology, a process which converts biomass by heat and pressure.

IBERDROLA has selected two companies in the new energy efficiency products category. On the one hand, the Wattio group, headquartered in the Miramón Technology Park (San Sebastián), develops, manufactures and sells a technology platform designed to provide innovative automated services for homes and companies, focused on energy saving, comfort, safety and health care.

On the other hand, the company Servitel, in Valencia, is working on IPdomo® Energy Wi-Fi project, a proprietary technology in the area of energy efficiency and optimisation that will enable users to receive via the Internet data on their consumption so that it can be monitored and new, more efficient consumption patterns can be implemented.
