UAW statement on Mark Gaffney, Michigan State AFL-CIO president
The UAW has learned that Michigan State AFL-CIO President Mark Gaffney has decided not to run for re-election at the organization's convention in October.
The UAW appreciates Gaffney's years of service and tireless efforts on behalf of Michigan's working families. He has also fought for Michigan's communities through his dedication and work with the United Way.
Gaffney led the labor federation for 12 years during the toughest of economic times and most recently, has been instrumental in labor's struggle against the attack on collective bargaining rights in Michigan.
