/EINPresswire.com/ 29 August 2011 - DiscountVouchers.co.uk, the online voucher codes site home to deals for over 800 suppliers, this reports that Brits are prepared to spend a lot of money to get love right. The website has conducted a new survey which reveals that of Brits polled, nearly 40% told the voucher code experts that there is "there is no price on love" in terms of what they are prepared to pay for engagement rings.
Also revealed by the survey was the fact that couples ought to spend as much as twice the man's monthly wage when buying a ring. A further statistic showed that 30% of UK consumes are prepared to spend up to £500 on their engagement ring.
Other numbers revealed by the DiscountVouchers.co.uk survey included that when in the early days of a relationship 57% still get bought meals and dinners out, while 46% receive the gift of flowers. 25% are given jewellery and nearly 20% get treated to a romantic weekend in the country. Only 5% admitted that their new partner bought them new underwear however.
People wanting to make a good first impression to a new partner are in the majority - 75% would always buy new clothing ahead of a first date. Going Dutch on a date remains popular with 65% happy to share a restaurant bill, while modesty also remains thanks to 67% admitting they'd not order the most expensive menu item - even if it were their favourite dish.
People who are mean with money in relationships are not too popular, 25% prepared to split up with someone they consider mean. On the flip side of this 37% remarked that meanness is not relevant to their being in love.
Spending money to impress a loved one remains popular - 42% of respondents admit to being happy to go overdrawn to make an impression. However a huge 94% confessed that they would not expect a lady's family to pay for a whole wedding.
