J. Dash Unveils The Wop Club Mix
Up and coming hip/hop star J. Dash takes the underground dance sensation to a new audience.
/EINPresswire.com/ The mastermind behind the hottest grassroots dance craze in the country, J. Dash, is at it again with the release of the WOP club remix. Teaming up with accomplished producer Mike K., J. Dash is looking to add to his legion of fans who are quickly turning "WOP" into a nationwide phenomenon.
As a staff writer/producer for Kara DioGuardi's Arthouse Entertainment, Mike K. has already amassed a list of solid credentials, including his work with David Archuleta, Kris Allen, Natasha Bedingfield and Nelly Furtado, to name a few.
"I had a blast doing it," Mike K. said of remixing "WOP." "It was fun and I was really excited to work with J. Dash."
Having already sold over 100,000 tracks on iTunes, the "WOP" single, music video and ringtone are all charting in iTunes' TOP 100 Hip/Hop charts. Putting a new spin on an already popular tune was a task Mike K. didn't take lightly.
"I try to keep the integrity of the song," Mike K. said. "I want to let the song do what it was written to do."
The result is an infectious dance groove bubbling with a club-ready groove.
"I wanted to do something synthy and dancy…something that's a little bit out of the bubble," Mike K. said. "It was nice to experiment with different sounds that you don't normally get to do with pop."
The rapid success of the original "WOP" single has been anchored by a revolutionary marketing strategy that is utilizing the first ever YouTube street team. The single has spawned a dance craze with thousands of videos posted on YouTube by J. Dash fans performing the "WOP" (an average of one new WOP video per hour) resulting in more than 5 million views and growing quickly.
Behind the wildly successful song is an artist with surprising depth. The Florid-based J. Dash is a piano prodigy who began playing Mozart at age 8 and cut his teeth playing in various blues and jazz bands throughout his teens. In addition to role as a rapper, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist, the Renaissance man also holds a degree in computer science from the University of Florida.
