Record Outpouring of Support from Ahern and Associates' Trucking and Logistics Colleagues for Christmas in July Food Drive
Another successful food drive for St. Mary's Food Bank is in the books; Ahern overwhelmed with contributions.
/EINPresswire.com/ Phoenix, AZ, July 26, 2011—Transportation analyst, Andy Ahern, the CEO of Ahern and Associates, Ltd. rang the dinner bell once again and his friends and colleagues throughout the transportation industry answered the call.
A long time supporter of Phoenix based, St. Mary's Food Bank, Andy Ahern ritually calls upon leaders throughout the trucking and logistics industries around the holidays and during the most difficult summer months to orchestrate much needed food drives. Each year, contributions for the worthy cause continue to increase and this year was no different—in fact, Ahern's accounting staff is still counting the influx of donations.
"This year, we were completely overwhelmed with the outpouring of support; we had donations from some of the largest carriers in the industry for thousands of dollars all the way down to individual employees giving what they could, even if it was only a dollar," explained Ahern.
"The fact is, our message to feed the hungry is penetrating not only people on our direct contact list, but the word is also spreading on its own well beyond our 250,000 newsletter subscribers—and that's how you truly make an impact for a cause."
Ahern has been supporting St. Mary's Food Bank for over eleven years through his annual food drives. St. Mary's is the nation's first food bank and does an outstanding job of supporting the hungry and elderly as well as maintain high ethical and operating standards.
90% of the funds collected go to feed families with small children and the elderly.
96¢ out of every dollar goes back into the community.
Last year, St. Mary's distributed over 72,262,239 pounds of food.
St. Mary's has over 400 partnership agencies throughout the country.
To date, Ahern and his colleagues throughout the transportation industry have raised well over $1,000,000 worth of food for St. Mary's Food Bank.
