WILD Flavors GmbH Moves Forward with Stevia Solutions for All Applications with the Initial Approval of Stevia for the EU

WILD Creates Great Taste with Stevia and Unique Taste Optimizing Solutions

Zug, SWITZERLAND, July 6, 2011 - WILD Flavors GmbH ("WILD") continues its commitment to health, wellness, and natural products by promoting the broader use of Stevia after the announcement by the Standing Committee of the European Commission (Directorate-General Health and Consumer Protection) to recommend approval of high purity stevia for use as a food ingredient throughout the EU.

"WILD has developed a comprehensive range of proprietary Taste Optimizing Solutions for Stevia applications," states Michael H. Ponder, CEO of WILD Flavors, GmbH. "These systems address mouthfeel, masking, sweet enhancement, and blocking of bitterness that improve the taste profile of foods and beverages containing Stevia. By rounding out the flavor profiles and masking the Stevia taste profile issues, these ingredients and blends improve the finished product while enhancing Stevia's sweetening properties."

WILD's Taste Optimizing Solutions for Stevia do not contain sugar alcohols, such as erythritol. Sugar alcohols can have a cooling sensation, can be difficult to dissolve and have a high cost-in-use in many applications.

Greg Horn, Senior Director of Sweetening Solutions for WILD commented, "A key benefit of WILD's Taste Optimizing Solutions is that they are labeled as Natural Flavors. Using a trained sensory panel for Stevia tasting, these unique modification systems were developed as platforms that are used and specialized for different applications and levels of Reb-A in Stevia. This approach enables customers to select the best sweetening system for their unique product and cost objectives."

The anticipated schedule for the final sanction for the use of stevia glycosides by the EU is November or December. WILD is ready to provide European customers and consumers with the benefits of this all natural sweetener and great-tasting modification blends for numerous food and beverage applications.
