Bachmann Welcomes Congressional Art Competition Winner to D.C.
Moreno, a sophomore at Woodbury High School, traveled to Washington, D.C. after winning the annual student competition with a mixed media painting titled, “Looking through Broken Glass,” depicting sail boats. A panel of judges selected Moreno’s artwork as the Sixth District winner earlier this spring.
Bachmann said, “It was a pleasure to welcome Brittany and her family to the U.S. Capitol today. This is an incredible achievement for Brittany. I thanked her for sharing her talents and I wished her a great visit to our nation’s capital.”
Moreno is participating in several events today for art competition winners including a lunch reception, ceremony, artist workshop and group photograph on the Capitol steps.
Moreno’s artwork will represent Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional District in the U.S. Capitol until May 2012. Since 1982, the Congressional Art Competition has provided opportunities for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of high school students throughout their districts.
