June 1, 2011 – New York – AJC is gearing up to celebrate 63 years of Israel’s independence at the annual New York Celebrate Israel Parade on Sunday, June 5.

“This is one of the most festive events every year, a thoroughly enjoyable way to publicly show our support for Israel,” said David Harris. “The outpouring of love for Israel among those of all ages marching and the many who line the parade route to watch is emotionally powerful.”

AJC, Harris noted, has a large contingent of lay and staff members and their families marching in the parade each year.

Preceding the parade, several dozen AJC members will participate in an inaugural four-mile Celebrate Israel Run in Central Park. “Someone has to bring up the rear,” said Harris, who will be running. “So, I’ve volunteered!”
